Water once a week or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.
Bright indoor light or indirect sun. 6 hours to 8 hours
Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.
Apply liquid fertilizer once in 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Indoor Plant Food.
Savor the beauty of hydrangea by giving it a spot in your space. This old-fashioned shrub stirs nostalgia. Botanically, the hydrangea is known as Hydrangea macrophylla. They are easy to grow. Hydrangeas are the shrubs that can change flower color based on soil pH. In acid soils, coveted blue and purple shades appear; in alkaline soils, pink is the standard hue. Shifting hydrangea flower color can be challenging. Do a little homework and plan on patience teamed with persistence for best results.
When you receive your new Hydrangea, we recommend that you set it in a window where it will receive 6–8 hours of direct sun. It is important to keep the soil mix evenly moist. The simplest technique is to water thoroughly (until the excess drains from the bottom of the pot) when the top ½ inch of the potting mix is dry to the touch. Do not allow the soil mix to dry out or let the pot sit in water for an extended period of time (more than 1 hour). A cool room temperature (60–65°F) will suit your plant just fine. Do not fertilize while your plant is in bloom. Fertilize during the growing season with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
How to keep blue flowers blue. Blue hydrangeas need acidic soil (pH 5.5 and lower) or they will change flower color from blue to pink. Alkaline soils (higher than pH 7) are fine for pink varieties. To keep the blue color, add sulphur while the plant is blooming. Neutral pH (between pH 5.5 and pH 7) can make the flowers purple or a mix of pink and blue.
It's important to know that not all cultivars can change to blue, so buy the color you want and try to maintain it. It's much easier to maintain a color than to change it completely by experimenting with soil acidity. Besides, some varieties won't change no matter what you do.
