Plant Care

Watering

Water once a week or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

Bright indoor light or indirect sun. 6 hours to 8 hours

Temperature

Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer once in 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Indoor Plant Food.

Plant Bio

Red Emerald (Philodendron erubescens “Red Emerald”) is a hybrid philodendron with attractive foliage. The Red Emerald Philodendron is one of the most common vining types of houseplants. It is a hybrid sought for its burgundy-red leave. Vining philodendrons are among the easiest philodendrons to care for and are leaders in removing toxic gases from indoor environments.

A Philodendron Imperial Red can survive in low light, but grows faster and looks better in medium light. Always allow the top 50% of the soil to dry out before watering. Water-less, allowing the soil to dry out a bit more, during the winter months. Fertilize monthly when the plant is actively growing with a balanced food diluted to ½ the recommended strength. If the plant is not producing new leaves, it doesn’t need any plant food. An Imperial Red Philodendron grows well in warm temperatures between 70°-85°F ( 21.1°-29.4°C). Use a rich quick-draining soil for all types of philodendrons; you may have to add a little sand to your usual soil mix if it appears too heavy.

These plants are considered poisonous and should be kept away from pets and children.
